2012 Scholarships


GIA now offers scholarships during two application periods each year for its Gemology and Jewelry Manufacturing Arts programs, courses, and Lab classes – March 1 through April 30 and June 15 through October 30.
Applications for scholarship awards that can be applied toward programs, courses, and Lab classes in the upcoming calendar year (2012) will be accepted June 15 through October 30.

Butterfly of Peace Scholarship
Award maximum: $500
One scholarship available for any on campus or Distance Education eLearning course or program.

ColorMasters ScholarshipAward maximum: $450
Eight scholarships available for the Distance Education eLearning Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP) diploma program. Preference will be given to applicants employed by a jewelry store that carries ColorMasters products.

Eunice Miles ScholarshipAward maximum: $500
Five scholarships available for any on campus or Distance Education eLearning course.

Fruchtman Marketing ScholarshipAward maximum: $1,000
One scholarship available for any on campus or Distance Education eLearning course, program, or Lab class.
George W. Juno Memorial Scholarship
Award maximum: $1,000
Two scholarships available for Distance Education eLearning gemology courses.
GIA Scholarship – San Diego County ResidentAward maximum: $1,000
Multiple scholarships available for any course or program. Applicants must reside in San Diego County.
GIA Scholarship – On CampusAward maximum: $18,000
Multiple scholarships available for on campus programs and courses including the Graduate Gemologist (GG) program, Jewelry Manufacturing Arts program including Applied Jewelry Arts (AJA), Graduate Jeweler (GJ), and CAD/CAM and Jewelry Design courses.

GIA Scholarship – Distance Education eLearning
Award maximum: $1,500
Multiple scholarships available for any Distance Education eLearning course. Applicants must reside in the United States.

GIA Scholarship – Lab ClassesAward maximum: $1,295
Multiple scholarships available for Lab Classes. Applicants must reside in the United States.
Independent Jewelers Organization/IJO Scholarship*Award maximum: $500
Four scholarships available for any gemology course or program. Available only to IJO Members or their employees (*includes Canadian Members).
Irving Getz ScholarshipAward maximum: $2,000
One scholarship available for any on campus or Distance Education eLearning course, program, or Lab class.
Jewelers of America ScholarshipsJewelers of America (JA) has scholarships available for GIA Distance Education eLearning courses for JA members and their employees. Applicants must be at least 18 years old; have at least one year of experience working at a JA member store or two years working in the jewelry industry; and not already be enrolled in another GIA Distance Education eLearning course. Kurt Wayne ScholarshipAward maximum: $1,000
One scholarship available for the on campus Graduate Jeweler (GJ) program.
Lone Star GIA Associate & Alumni ScholarshipAward maximum: $500
One scholarship available for any on campus or Distance Education eLearning course, program, or Lab class. Preference will be given to applicants who reside within Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, or Arkansas.

Mikimoto ScholarshipAward maximum: $750
Eight scholarships available for the Distance Education eLearning Graduate Pearls Diploma program.

Morris Hanauer ScholarshipAward maximum: $600
One scholarship available for any Distance Education eLearning gemology course.

New Hampshire Jewelers Association ScholarshipAward maximum: $1,000
One scholarship available for any Distance Education eLearning course, program, or Lab class. Applicants must reside in New Hampshire.
North Texas GIA Alumni Association ScholarshipAward maximum: $1,500
One scholarship available for any on campus or Distance Education eLearning course, program, or Lab class. Preference will be given to applicants who reside within the following Texas zip codes: 75000-75799, 76000-76999, and 76900-79799.
NYSJA ScholarshipAward maximum: $1,000
Two scholarships available for any on campus or Distance Education eLearning course, program, or Lab class.
Applicants must reside in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania.
R. Harder Gallery ScholarshipAward maximum: $5,000
One on campus or two Distance Education eLearning scholarships available for the Graduate Gemologist (GG) program. Applicants must reside in the state of Wisconsin. Preference will be given to applicants who reside in the Fox Valley Region (zip codes 54911 - 54956).

Richard T. Liddicoat ScholarshipAward maximum: $19,000
Two scholarships available. One for the on campus Graduate Gemologist (GG) and one for the Distance Education eLearning Graduate Gemologist (GG) program (which includes three required Lab classes - Diamond Grading, Colored Stone Grading, and Gem Identification.)
Rio Grande ScholarshipAward maximum: $17,000
One scholarship available for the on campus Graduate Jeweler (GJ) program. Applicants must reside in the United States.
S.H. Silver ScholarshipAward maximum:  $5,000
One scholarship available for on campus School of Jewelry Manufacturing Arts Jewelry Design courses.
Tiffany & Co. ScholarshipAward maximum: $10,000
Two scholarships available for any gemology program.

William Goldberg Diamond Corp. ScholarshipAward maximum: $10,000
One scholarship available for any gemology program.
Zoe Bromberg ScholarshipAward maximum: $2,000
One scholarship available for classes that fulfill the American Gem Society certification requirements.
Applicants must currently work for an AGS firm and have been employee with the firm for 12 or more months.

International

GIA Scholarship - International Distance Education eLearning Courses
Award maximum: US $1,500
Scholarships available to be applied toward any of the five Distance Education eLearning core gemology courses required for the Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma. Does not include Lab classes. Applicants must be non-U.S. citizens living outside the U.S. Courses available in English only.
GIA Scholarship - Hong KongAward maximum: US $ - Varies
Scholarships available for any on campus program at GIA’s Hong Kong campus. Applicants must be non-U.S. citizens whose country of residence is outside the U.S.

GIA Scholarship - IndiaAward maximum: US $ - Varies
Scholarships available for any on campus program at GIA’s India campus. Applicants must be non-U.S. citizens whose country of residence is outside the U.S.

GIA Scholarship - LondonAward maximum: US $ - Varies
Scholarships available for any on campus program at GIA’s London campus. Applicants must be non-U.S. citizens whose country of residence is outside the U.S.

GIA Scholarship - Middle EastAward maximum: US $ - Varies
Scholarships available for any on campus program at GIA’s Middle East branch located in Dubai. Applicants must be non-U.S. citizens whose country of residence is outside the U.S.
GIA Scholarship – Taiwan
Award maximum: US $ - Varies
Scholarships available for any on campus program at GIA’s Taiwan campus. Applicants must be non-U.S. citizens whose country of residence is outside the U.S.
GIA Scholarship - ThailandAward maximum: US $ - Varies
Scholarships available for any on campus program at GIA’s Thailand campus. Applicants must be non-U.S. citizens whose country of residence is outside the U.S.

Paul J. Rushin Memorial Scholarship - Thailand
Award maximum: US $500
One scholarship available for any on campus program at GIA’s Thailand campus. Applicants must be non-U.S. citizens whose country of residence is outside the U.S.
